As part of the project, 5 PhDs are supported in the form of reimbursement of scholarships. students who applied for listed dissertation topics related to the focus of the Competence Centre and were accepted for study.

Mgr. Soňa Juhásová
Soňa Juhásová is a doctoral student at the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University Bratislava. Her dissertation entitled "New Judge in Town: How Social Media Platforms Approach Delegated Decision-Making from the Point of Freedom of Expression" analyzes the phenomenon of the so-called private constitutionalism, in which digital platforms create their own normative systems resembling constitutional orders, thereby fundamentally changing the way fundamental rights are exercised in the digital environment. The research also analyzes how digital platforms exercise decision-making power in content moderation and how this power affects the standard of rights protection compared to judicial protection.
She chose to study at the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law because of her long-term interest in the legal aspects of the single EU digital market. The Institute provides a space for critical reflection on the dynamic challenges of the digital era and allows connecting theoretical knowledge with practical issues of the operation and management of online platforms. An important reason for her decision was the opportunity to work with the trainer, doc. Mesarčík, whose professional focus and approach to the issue of the digital environment represent inspirational and methodologically valuable guidance for her research.

Mgr. Stela Košťálová
Stela Košťálová is a doctoral student at the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University Bratislava. As part of the dissertation "The right to cybersecurity? The perspective of the Acquis Communautaire on the cybersecurity of automated vehicles", he focuses on the embedding of cybersecurity in the law of the European Union and its place in the protection of human rights. In addition to cybersecurity, it deals with personal data protection and interdisciplinary aspects of new technologies.
For a long time, the subject of her research focus is the interdisciplinary field of law and new technologies with an emphasis on the regulation of cybersecurity and personal data protection. With the rapid advancement of new technologies, there is also an urgent need to reevaluate individual regulatory approaches in order to balance the support of innovation with the protection of fundamental rights. Therefore, she decided to follow up on her previous experience at the university and, as part of her doctoral studies, she strives to contribute to the investigation of risks in the field of personal data protection and cybersecurity.

Mgr. Lucia Rybanová
Lucia Rybanová is a doctoral student at the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University Bratislava. In his dissertation entitled "Reaction of the digital regulation of the European Union to the risks for minors in the online space: Filling legislative gaps" he deals with the current risks that the digital world presents to children and the way in which the digital legislation of the European Union reacts to these risks. In addition, her effort is to point out potential legislative gaps that do not adequately reflect the threats to children in the online space.
The law of information technologies interested her mainly because of the topicality and interdisciplinary nature of this field, which offers the opportunity to explore new technologies or the online world and their regulation from different points of view. During her studies at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University, she was also inclined towards European law and human rights issues, which she connects in her research with the challenges of the digital legislation of the European Union.

Mgr. Miroslav Sorkovsky
Miroslav Sorkovský is a doctoral student at the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University Bratislava. In his dissertation "Protection against cyber threats through regulatory tools of cybersecurity" he focuses on multidimensional regulatory tools of cybersecurity and their application in protection against cyber threats, analyzes their feasibility, regulatory effectiveness and adaptability to current challenges in the digital space, while maintaining the highest standard of compliance with human rights, legal certainty and the principle of proportionality.
He chose to study at the Institute of Information Technology Law and Intellectual Property Law because of his interest in the regulation of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and new technologies. He considers the mentioned areas to be significant social and legal challenges.

Mgr. Alžbeta Šimeková
Alžbeta Šimeková is a doctoral student in the Criminal Law study program at the Department of Criminal Law, Criminology and Criminology at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University Bratislava. In his dissertation, entitled "The use of artificial intelligence in criminal proceedings - possibilities and risks", he deals with the use of artificial intelligence technologies in various stages of criminal proceedings, paying particular attention to their benefits and potential risks from the point of view of the rule of law, the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, and the right to a fair trial. It also focuses on the ethical and legal challenges associated with their deployment in judicial practice.
She decided to study the mentioned study program based on her long-term interest in criminal law, which she deepened during her studies at the Faculty of Law of the Comenius University Bratislava. Since the rapid development of new technologies also affects this area, he focuses his research on connecting its traditional principles with modern phenomena, such as artificial intelligence.
